What is Cloud Computing

Connecting multiple servers through a digital network (as if they are multiple drives of one computer) is known as Cloud computing.
In the past, if some one wants to use any application, he or she has no other option than installing the application in their Personnal computer. With the development of local area networks (LAN), 'server' (a computer with high end processor and large storage devices) will be installed with the application and lot of computers connected to this server can access the application and work from their individual computers.

Cloud computing can be termed as second generation 'LAN'. Where in LAN, only computers connected in Local, can acess an application from server. Cloud computing allows consumers and businesses to use applications installed in a web server through internet connection.

You will be surprised to hear that "All of us are used to 'cloud computing' in day to day life". yes, If you are using Yahoo mail , Gmail, Google Docs etc, then you are in to cloud computing. Does your computer have any software to acess email ? send email ?Are you storing the incoming mail in your compouter ? But you are enjoying the benefits using a simple software called Browser.

This concept of using an application / data in a web server is known as Cloud computing.Cloud computing is the next stage in the Internet's evolution, providing the means through which everything — from computing power to computing infrastructure, applications, business processes to personal collaboration — can be delivered to you as a service wherever and whenever you need.
